The Power of Study Groups (Part 1)

  The Power of Study Groups

                                     Part 1

Working Together Helps Everyone
You may have noticed that when you’re explaining something you’ve learned to a friend, you begin to understand it better yourself. This happens because, when you explain an idea, you need to think more deeply about it.

The same principle makes study groups useful. Studying with others in a small group is helpful because you:

* Think out loud.

* Share ideas.

* Learn from one another.

In an effective study group, you and other students hash out lesson materials together-explaining concepts, arguing about them, figuring out why one person’s answer differs from another’s-and in the process, you most likely learn more than you would have studying by yourself.

Walk the Talk

              Walk the Talk

Reflection:

What I think about this video called “Walk the Talk” is that we should show and be polite, honest, and respectful, have some integrity. To show that we are going and choosing the right. We supposed to start first us and then other people. Is like first think about what you are going to say and do and then say it because you don’t know if you might hurt someone. So make good decisions so you could have a great destiny.

       “Nobody ever did, or will, escape the

            consequences of his choices.”

                      -Albert A. Montapert

Reflection:

What think about this quote of Albert is that he is saying the truth because if you make bad decisions there will be a punishment and YOU WILL NOT ESCAPED IT. If you make good decisions then there will be a reward and you will feel good with in yourself. For example if you commit a crime the cops will be after you and you commit a sin but if you help someone you will feel good and probably have a reward but just do good things so you are a great person in life not because they are going to give you something.

How to Take on College Studying (Part 3)

How to Take on College Studying

                               Part 3

Do the Reading
You need to do more than just read the chapters you are assigned-you’re expected to understand them thoroughly. Here are some tips:

Ø  Don’t skim. Read all the material carefully.

Ø  Break up difficult assignments into sections you can digest-chapters, subsections or even paragraphs.

Ø  Look up any words that you don’t understand.

Ø  Pause to think about whether you understand the material; ask questions in class about anything that is unclear.

Ø  Take notes instead of highlighting- this makes you think thought and rephrase the key points.

Ø Create a summary sheet of what you learned from each assignment you read.

             “Success is dependent on effort.”

                -Sophocles, Greek Dramatist

Reflection:

What I think about this quote of the people who wrote it, it’s says the true because if you put effort on studying and doing well in school you are going to be successful in life. And if you don’t put effort then you are not going to be successful in life. People don’t care and they think they can do everything and when they start to suffer they complain.

How to Take on College Studying (Part 2)

How to Take on College Studying

                                 Part 2

Choose Where to Study

Where you should study depends on two factors: the environment in which you are best able to concentrate and the type of work you are planning to do.

v The best places to study have good light, a comfortable temperature and enough desk space-usually your dorm room, your apartment or the library.

v For completing problem sets or brainstorming possible test questions, you may want to study with a group or at least in a setting where fellow students are available for discussion.

v When you are reading book chapters or working on a research paper you are probably better off in a social environment.

Improve Your Study Habits

Here are simple steps you can take to help you get a handle on studying:

v Have a routine for where and when you study.

v Choose reasonable and specific goals that you can accomplish for each study session.

v Do things that are harder or require more intense thought at your most productive time of the day.

v Take breaks if you need them so you don’t waste time looking at material but not absorbing it.

v Get to know students whom you respect and can study with or contact to ask questions.

v Keep up with the workload and seek help when you need it.

Jenna Huff Summary

“Summary of Jenna Huff Wins Extreme “Sportsmanship” award from U.S. Olympic

Committee”

Summary:

What I think about Jenna Huff is that she did and showed the right thing to do. She didn’t take advantage of the other girl who got injured. She helped her to get to the finish line. There are not a lot people who help others. She is setting an example to everyone because she choice the right thing to do. She deserves to win an award of Sportsmanship from the U.S. Olympic Committee.
